Abstract

The Real Academia de la Historia in Madrid, Spain possesses an indispensable library for the study and investigation of Spain and Hispanic American history. In 1972, personnel from the Micronesian Area Research Center, University of Guam selected and acquired documents pertaining to the history of the Mariana Islands. The collections are specially related to the history and activities of the Jesuits in Spain and the colonies of Ultramar between the XVI and XVIII centuries: these are collection Cortes and the collection Jesuits. This selection of documents also includes records from the Provincial Commission, which was formed in the XIX Century. [Material in Spanish language]. La Real Academia de la Historia posee una Biblioteca indispensable para el estudio e investigación de la historia de España y de la América hispánica. En 1972, personal del Micronesian Area Research Center de la Universidad de Guam seleccionó documentos de los fondos relacionados con la historia de las Islas Marianas. Especialmente las colecciones relativas a la historia y actividades de la Compañía de Jesús en España y en las misiones ultramarinas entre los siglos XVI y XVIII: la llamada Biblioteca de Cortes y la colección Jesuitas. También se incluyen documentos del fondo formado desde el siglo XIX con los informes de las Comisiones Provinciales.
