| Abstract: | In 1975, Birkeland came to the UOG Marine Lab from a 5-year post-doc at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panamá. He taught Biometry for 26 years without skipping a year (1975-2000); this included the Fall semester following his retirement. He was Director of the UOG Marine Lab 1979 – 1982. He wrote two books during his tenure at the UOG Marine Lab and a third following retirement. He is currently an affiliate of the graduate program in Biology at the University of Hawaii. |
