dc.description.abstract | As the first, pioneering creator of Guampedia.com and its editor-in-chief for over a dozen years – a rich encyclopedic resource about Guam’s history and culture that is now used throughout the island’s schools and, indeed, throughout the world – Dr. Nick went on to supplement his over 25 years at the RFK Memorial Library by serving on every University committee (sometimes more than once), culminating in his three years’ service as President of the Faculty Senate. Dr. Nick also served in various public roles, including eight years on the Guam Humanities Council (Humanities Guåhan), including three years as its Chair. With Greenwood Press and the University of Hawai’i Press, Dr. Nick has published books on indigenous navigation, Micronesian histories, indigenous Pacific literature, Pacific ethnomathematics, and his 600+ page book Guåhan: A Bibliographic History, along with numerous published, Pacific focused academic papers and conference presentation. He also reflects upon the changes he witnessed at UOG and on Guam during his tenure. | en_US |
