dc.description.abstract | In August 1994, UOG welcomed some 32 new faculty. One of the new faculty, a life-long learner, saw a local business need and sought to develop an academic program that is practice-based. At that time, the business curriculum was sorely lacking in attention to the development of Human Resource Management (HRM). With the support of local HRM leaders and visionaries, a program to promote the preparation of HRM students and local business leaders was proposed and approved. To this end, the program was designed around a series of coordinated courses. Further, the UOG Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Student Chapter, a professionally affiliated student organization, was launched. After 26 years, the HRM program continues to attract and nurture future professionals to meet local and regional business needs for human resource management leaders. | en_US |
