Deputy Comissioner Delmas H. Nucker Papers

Abstract

The Honorable Delmas Henry Nucker was Deputy High Commissioner of the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands from 1951-1961. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on the 17th of April, 1907 the son of Henry and Isabel (Oats) Nucker. He married Catherine ("Katy") Moore October 30, 1925. They have one son, William J. Nucker. He worked at Socony Vacuum Oil Company from 1927 until 1942. Throughout the Great Depression they lived in Pennsylvania in various locations. Mr. Nucker served with the Office of Price Administration in Washington, D.C. after his employment with Socony Vacuum Oil Company before joining the United States Department of the Interior. He also headed the Agency for International Development mission to Afghanistan from 1963 to 1967
